Immunologic Infertility in Male

Abstract
Sperm immunity has now been recognized as an uncommon cause of male and female infertility. An extensive variety of methods has been used to detect anti sperm antibodies in infertile individuals, but the comparisons of different methods using the same test materials have shown only a little correlation between results. The first WHO workshop on iso and auto anti bodies to human spermatozoa in 1974 tried to establish standardization of these tests that are reproducible and correlate with subsequent fertility. The 1980 s have again brought a proliferation of new test methods. In general, these methods are too new to have a well-established correlation with fertility prognosis, however, they have the theoretical advantage that they detect the presence of immunoglobulin.
The purpose of this review will be to provide a brief overview of the field with special emphasis on the newer tests and treatment regimens.
